Bay Mustang Club Pony Express

November 2011 Monthly Newsletter

Attention: Our next club meeting will be at our annual picnic at Bonita Bay on Tyndall AFB on November 5th.  Hope to see all of you there!

The meeting at Cook-Whitehead Ford was called to order by Sheila Davis at the close of our annual show on October 9th, 2011.

BIG THANKS TO ALL ANNUAL CAR SHOW VOLUNTEERS & PARTICANTS

Sheila thanked Fred Miller as the show chairman & committee members for all the hard work done to make the annual show a success. Fred as show chairman and all show committee members did a great job!  She also thanked those who:

·     helped on the 8th to load & unload supplies and equipment and moved vehicles.

·     helped the day of the show with whatever was needed of them.

·     judged and then those who judged again to break some pretty tough ties.

Thanks again to everyone!!!

We were all so tired from working the annual show that we managed not to pass an attendance sign-up sheet around. If I have left anyone out that was there, please please forgive me. Let know and I will correct the record.

CRUISE-IN (Note change in location)

Due to football season, Hooters is pretty much maxed out so our next cruise-in on November 12 will be at TGI Friday on Back Beach Road near Home Depot. There is no change in the 6-8pm time.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Show account balance was $2,410.25 and after expenditures and deposits it is $2696.88. The club account balance was $1,779.97 and now is $1,722.68. There will an update next month as to what we earned from our annual show and for our charities.

GREET & EAT

Since we didn’t pass around a sign-in sheet, we also did not draw for a door prize. Everyone had a discussion and it was decided we would try Rodeo’s on Tyndall Parkway near Tyndall AFB. As usual we will meet at 6:00 pm at Rodeo’s.

CAR CLUB CHALLENGE RACE 3 of 3

Race 3 of 3 for the 2011 Car Club Challenge is scheduled for November 13. 2011 at the Panama Beach Raceway. Gates open at 1pm, with racing after a racer's meeting. Cost is $20.00 to race (car & driver), $10.00 per person to enter/watch. This is open to any/all car clubs that can attend and is organized by several of the BC4 clubs collectively. FALL PICNIC (Note change in date)

The new date for the fall picnic is November 5, 2011. It will be at Tyndall AFB at the base of the bridge (same place as last year).  It is a potluck with the club providing hotdogs & hamburgers.  Great fun was had by all who attended last year’s picnic. Come on out & join the fun. I will be sending an email out soon on what foods/drinks we need. Please volunteer to bring something on the list.

MEMBER KUDOS

Bruce Gamble sent this information to me back in mid September and I was going to publish in our October newsletter; however I overlooked it so I’m playing catch-up by publishing it now. This story just goes to show not only do we have some great club members who can always be counted on to help each other but we also have members who truly appreciate and recognize those giving members. Thanks to both Don & Bruce.

From Bruce Gamble: “On a recent sunny day, club member Bruce Gamble paid a visit to member Don Berkley at his restoration shop on Tyndall Parkway. The spring was gone from the top latch on the driver’s side of Bruce’s convertible, and he’d purchased the complete assemblies to replace both sides. After getting a minimum labor estimate of $150 from an upholstery shop in Panama City Beach, Bruce headed over to Don’s shop to ask if he could recommend another upholstery shop. Instead, Don and his assistant, Richard, replaced the missing spring and made

some other adjustments to the top frame, spending about 30 minutes on the job. Bruce offered to pay Don for his time and got a good-natured reply: I’d be offended!? Big kudos to Don for taking time out of his day to help a club member.”

GIFTS/DOOR PRIZES

Even though our annual show is over, we still need door prizes as well as goody bag stuffers.  If you can come up with anything from the businesses that you frequent that would be wonderful. If everyone makes an honest effort to gather items then the club will have more goodies to give away at our Christmas party and future cruise-ins. Just let Sheila or Fred know what you come up with.

UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR

There will be no tire spinning, burning rubber, or acting ugly at any car/club event or gathering.  You will be dismissed from the club!
